The LONG awaited major label debut from J-5 main-man and turntable legend Lucas Mc Fadden aka Cut Chemist. All the carefully constructed ‘Lesson’ style cut & paste joints are here, as you would expect, plus there’s an extra layer of live instrumentalism, which gives ‘The Audience’ a more melodic, listenable (no pun intended) feel to it than most albums made by djs. The way Cut weaves-in funny little vocal samples takes him into (not unwelcome) Mr Scruff territory, while more straight up indy hip hop sound is represented (well) by Edan and Mr Lif. J-5 fans and the casual listener alike won’t be disappointed by this one.
